GAMe’s:history and activities

GAMe is the acronymous of Young Mediterranean Ambassadors. It’s a project belonging to RMEI,  the Network of Engineering and Management Schools.

GAMe association gathers together the young Mediterranean Engineers and Management students.

GAMe is an international student network.

It is the apolitical, laical, non-profitable student section of the RMEI universities .

GAMe is the association of Mediterranean students belonging mainly to engineering schools whose members join on an exclusively voluntary basis.

Aim of GAMe

⦁ GAMe aims to have engineering students from around the Mediterranean working and communicating together in preparation of an international career.

⦁ GAMe wants to answer this point by giving students the opportunity to meet each other and to work together.

⦁ The goal is to make them more familiar with other cultures and other way of thinking and to enrich their own through the experience they gain.

The final aim of GAMe is to reach a close cooperation and a continuous promotion of students initiatives among the Mediterranean Schools

TARGET means TAke a Reflexive approach to Gender Equality for institutional Transformation. TARGET will contribute to the advancement of gender equality in research and innovation (R&I) by supporting a reflexive gender equality policy in seven Gender Equality Innovating Institutions (GEIIs) in the Mediterranean basin - including research performing organizations (RPOs), research funding organizations (RFOs) and a network of universities.

RMEI is involved in this European research program that will benefit from RMEI university network to enlarge the statistical surveys.

The scientific coordinator of the program for RMEI is Pr Anastasia ZABANIOTOU from Aristotle Univ. of Thessaloniki (GE). The Legal Entity Administrative Representative (LEAR) is Pr Olivier BOIRON from Ecole Centrale Marseille.

The Gender Equality (GE) is recognized by the board of RMEI as one of the main and challenging objectives of the network for the next coming years. GE is one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of UNESCO for the period 2017-2030.

TARGET - Taking a Reflexive approach to Gender Equality for institutional Transformation

  1. TARGET PROJECT and RMEI

The  objective  of  TARGET  is  to  contribute  to  the  advancement  of  gender  equality  in research and innovation (R&I) by supporting a reflexive gender equality policy in seven Gender  Equality  Innovating  Institutions  (GEIIs)  in  the  Mediterranean  basin - including research performing organisations (RPOs), research funding organisations (RFOs) and a  network of universities ( RMEI).
The TARGET countries have been characterized as relatively ‘inactive’ in developing gender  equality  policies  in  R&I.  The  widening  gap  be tween ‘proactive’ countries and ‘inactive’ countries is a worrying development – as some countries are being ‘left behind’  – which if nothing is done may have negative implications on the quality and excellence  of R&I throughout Europe.
The TARGET approach goes beyond the formal adoption of a gender equality policy by emphasising an iterative and reflexive process towards equality at the institutional level as well  as  the  establishment  of  a  community  of  practice  for  gender  equality  within  the institution: a ctual change is the result of increased institutional willingness and capacity to  identify, reflect on and address gender bias in a sustained way.
Starting point and anchor of the process is a tailored Gender Equality Plan or Strategy (GEP/GES) in each GE II which will be designed, implemented, monitored, self - assessed  and evaluated in the course of TARGET.
Within  TARGET,  change  for  achieving  gender  equality  in  R&I  is  defined  as  a  three - dimensional construct:

1) addressing  gender  bias  in  human  resource  management  (recruitment,  retention and career progression of female researchers);
2) addressing gender imbalances in decision - making processes and
3) strengthening the gender dimension in R&I content and Higher Education (HE) curricula.

TARGETs’ GEIIs have been selected for their potential to initiate change in the national
discourse  on gender  equality  in  R&I  in  countries  with  limited gender  equality  policies  in
R&I.
